Carol Jane Lewis, 45, of Springfield, passed away at 4:17 p.m. on March 1, 2015 at St. John's Hospice. Carol was born September 27, 1969 in Springfield, the daughter of Donald and Theresa J. Smith Lewis. Carol was a 1987 graduate of Lanphier High School. She attended Lincoln Land Community College, receiving an associate's degree in Psychology. Carol was employed for 10 years at St. John's and for 10 years with First Student. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with her family and her grandchildren. Carol was a loving person, who was always willing to help out or take someone in. She was preceded in death by her parents and her partner, Thomas Day. She is survived by her sons, Raymond Lewis and Wade Yeley, both of Springfield; two grandchildren, Corrine Lewis and Hayden Lewis; and brother, John Lewis of Florida. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a brief ceremony with Pastor Calvin Miller officiating. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.
