

Catherine Dirksen, 95, of Springfield, died at 6:55 p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2005 at St. John’s Hospice. Catherine was born September 20, 1909 in Springfield the daughter of George and Alvina Graser Reisch. She married Theodore J. Dirksen, March 1, 1938; he preceded her in death January 23, 1968. Mrs. Dirksen, a 1928 graduate from Ursuline Academy, was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, St. Agnes Woman’s Guild, Altar and Rosary Society and Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. She was also a Sacristans and the Ministry of Praise. She was also preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Paul. She is survived by four daughters: Elizabeth (companion, John Kennedy) Dirksen of Oak Forrest, Martha Bunn of Burnsville, MN, Cathy (husband, Remster) Bingham of Spring Lake, MI and Mary (husband, Edward) Lindberg of Manistee, MI; four sons: Dirk, Joseph, George (wife, Georgia) Dirksen all of Springfield and John (wife, Cindy) Dirksen of Bartlett; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; one sister: Margaret Giblin of Kansas City, MO; one brother: Edward (wife, Bobbie) Reisch of Mountain Home, AZ and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 3-6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2005 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield with Rev. Robert J. Jallas celebrant. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospital, Hospice Unit, 800 E. The family of Catherine Dirksen is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren.
