Catherine "Annette" Fuchs

Catherine "Annette" Fuchs, 78, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Carlinville Rehab and Health Care Center. Annette was born April 7, 1937 in Springfield, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Moore Campo. Annette retired from the City of Springfield Recreation Department in 1997, where she served as the Special Events Director. Annette also served as the Director of Illinois Senior Olympics from 1980 to 1987; she established and served as Executive Director of Illinois Senior Olympics Sports Organizations, Inc. until 1997; and served as a past President of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Annette also served on several boards during her life, including the Mayor's Senior Citizen Commission, the National Senior Games Association, and the RSVP Advisory Council. She organized and participated in the Illinois 1999 Walk Across the Nation program. Annette volunteered with many organizations in addition to those already mentioned, including Girl Scouts, Special Olympics, and Contact Ministries. She was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award by Sigma Phi Omega in 1998. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank P. Campo; and grandson, Timothy Knepler. She is survived by her son, Michael J. Fuchs; daughter, Rhonda Catlin; four grandchildren, David (Brittney) Catlin, Elizabeth Catlin, Lindsay (Wilson) Chaparro, and Jody Fuchs; six great-grandchildren, Devin, Natalie and Sofie Fuchs, Cora Lynn, Ethan and Raylyn Fuchs; one sister, Pat Price; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July, 10, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, with Rev. Jeff Grant officiating. The family requests casual attire be worn to the ceremonies. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
