She was born on February 13, 1946, in Anna, IL, to Harold and Verna Henard. On July 5, 1983, Chara married the love of her life, Charlie “Chuckie” Bordeau, and together they shared 41 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and companionship.
Chara graduated from cosmetology school and worked as a beautician for many years, before dedicating herself to her family as a homemaker. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures - sitting in the sunshine, practicing yoga, tending to their garden, canning with Charlie, and gathering with family for cherished Sunday night dinners. She especially loved her evenings spent on the front porch with Charlie, looking through their telescope and sharing their fascination with astronomy. She also treasured the companionship of their dogs.
She had a deep love for nature, a heart of gold, and a spirit unlike anyone else. Chara carried a quiet uniqueness that made her unforgettable. Her individuality and appreciation for the world will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Charlie.
She is survived by her daughters, Cassie (Todd) Washko and Christina (Joe) Hubbell, both of Springfield; her first husband and dear friend, George (Zoraya) Christofilakos of Springfield; her grandchildren, Morgan Washko (Jordan Barnett), Ellie Washko, Faith Washko, Niko Hubbell, and Rena Hubbell; great-grandchild, Amelia Barnett; sister, Bobbie (Don) Moorman; nieces, Angela (Patrick) Billinghurst and Dana Earles; brothers-in-law, Dave (Jeanne) Bordeau and Peter Bordeau; sisters-in-law, Charlene Moore and Michelle (Dennis) Teichert, and their families.
