

He was born in Springfield, August 11, 1934 the son of Charles E. and Marjorie I. (Palmer) King Jr. His parents preceded him in death. He married Connie Day in Springfield, September 15, 1967 and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, David E. (Wendy) King of Mahomet, IL, Michael A. (Karol) King of Lebanon, IN, Timothy L. Rodgers of Belleville, IL, Kimberly A. (Joe) Todd of Springfield, David W. (Teresa) Rodgers of Belleville, IL, Patrick E. King of Springfield, Jeff T. (Debbie) King of Riverton, 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Herbert (Kay) King of Carlyle, IL, Ronald (Mary) King of Flora, IL, Kenneth (Judy) King of Salem, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ed worked for Vredenburg Lumber Company in Springfield for many years as a truck driver, in shipping and receiving, and as a yardman. He later was the co-owner with his wife of Grandma’s House Daycare until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the “Road Runners Hot Rod Club” and later a member of the Route 66 Car Club. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was known for his vegetable gardens, but also offered advice on the flowers to his wife Connie.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen where visitation will be on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 4-7 pm. Additional visitation will be on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 9 am until time of funeral services at 10 am at Third Presbyterian Church. Ed’s good friend and pastor of the Grace Chapel Fellowship in Stewartstown, PA, David W. Burk and Pastor Brent Mitchell will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
