

Charles "Chuck" A. Shiffer, Jr., 70, of Springfield, passed away at 5:26 a.m. on July 21, 2011 at his residence. Chuck was born July 9, 1941 in Springfield, the son of Charles and Ethel Renfro Shiffer. Chuck served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Springfield Police Department for many years before retiring in 1993. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Penny VanderDrift and Judy Brown. He is survived by two daughters, Kateri (Grant Guetterman) Purtle of Highland and Lacey (Adam Enlow) Shiffer of Springfield; two sisters, Sandra Gaffigan and Andrea (husband, Robert) Frantz both of Springfield; four brothers, Robert and Kevin (wife, Terry) Shiffer both of Springfield, Mike (wife, Carrie) Shiffer of Florida, and John (wife, Mary Kay) Shiffer of Bloomington; and several aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 South 6th St., Springfield. Interment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
