He was born March 8, 1938 in Springfield, the son of George Edward and Geraldine (Murrell) Tinsley, Sr. He served in the United States Marine Corps from Feb. 1958 to Feb. 1962. He married Joyce Enid Armstead on July 14, 1963.
Mr. Tinsley worked as a truck driver for Barker Lubin Lumber Co. for almost 20 years. He also worked as a forklift operator for Pillsbury and then later for Hillier. He was a member of the American Legion and Teamsters Union Post 809.
Besides his wife Joyce, he is survived by 2 daughters, Renee J. Bell and Christa Tinsley, his mother, Geraldine Tinsley, his grandchildren, Jared E. Bell, Chelsea E. Bell, and Sarah C. Rodgers, a sister, Elizabeth (Steve) Alexander, many nieces and nephews and the family dog Blizzard.
He was preceded in death by his father, George E. Tinsley, Sr., and 2 brothers, George E. Tinsley, Jr. and William Clarence Tinsley.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am at Grace United Methodist Church, 1612 E. Capitol Ave., Springfield, with Revs. Galda McCants and Peggie Senor officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
