Christine J. O'Neill

Christine J. O’Neill, 95, of Springfield, died at 2:52 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at St. John’s Hospital. Christine was born June 21, 1909 in Riverside, KY, the daughter of Rufus L. and Gillie T. Young Cox. She married Francis O’Neill June 21, 1929 in Bowling Green, OH and he preceded her in death. Christine was a member and Past President of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She had been employed at J. C. Penneys and also was a self-employed seamstress. She was also preceded in death by two daughters: Nancy O’Neill and Sandra O’Neill-Fuller; two sisters: Virginia Jennings, Imogene Turnbull and one brother: Herman Cox. She is survived by four children: Marian Richards of Springfield, Charles (wife, Irene) O’Neill of Champaign, Barbara Forestier of Springfield, Peggy (husband, George) Baker of Murphysboro; twenty-five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Very Rev. Thomas Liebler, V.F. officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
