

Claudia G. (Hartsock) Lohman, 63, of Sherman, went home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Wanda Hartsock and her sister, Paulette. She is survived by her husband, William, of Sherman; daughter, Tamara (husband, Barry) Wright of Columbus, IN; son, Jason (wife, Dina) Lohman of Naperville; daughter, Paulette (husband, Joel) Brown of Woodstock, GA; six grandchildren; sister, Susan (husband, Barry) Leek of Irving; brother, Dennis (wife, Judy) Hartsock of Graham, TX; sister, Nancy Hartsock of Washington DC; uncle, Jim (wife, Nancy) Hartsock; and many nieces, nephews, and their spouses and children. Claudia was born on March 14, 1945 in DuQuoin, IL. After graduating as the valedictorian of Cobden High School in 1963, she attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She was married to William Lohman on May 15, 1966. Claudia worked as the ATM and Teller Balancing Supervisor, First National Back, Springfield; and a Remedial Reading Teacher at Sherman Elementary School. Throughout the years, she has served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Preschool Founder/Director at the Third Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, visiting with friends, participating in her neighborhood Bible study group, and volunteering her time serving others. In March, she travelled to Hawaii with William as an early celebration of their 42 years of marriage. Her love, dedication, and friendship will be missed by her family and friends. Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. An additional visitation will be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Third Presbyterian Church, 1030 N. 7th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Third Presbyterian Church with Pastor Brent Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
