Clyde Harvey Miller

Clyde Harvey Miller, 71, of Springfield, formerly of Sherman, passed away at 12:23 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Sharon Healthcare Elms in Peoria. Clyde was born July 5, 1939 in Palo Alto, CA, the son of Henry Douglass and Jean Munn Douglas Miller. He married Beth Springs on January 19, 1980 in Hamilton, IL. Clyde proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a medic and LPN, where he completed three tours in Vietnam and received multiple awards, including the Bronze Star. He retired from the Army in 1978. He received a Bachelor's degree in Public Health Administration from SIUC and a Master's degree in Health Administration from UIS. After completion of his degree, he worked for the State of Illinois, Department of Public Aid and later retired from there. After retiring from the State of IL, Clyde worked for the North Dirksen Wal-Mart for several years. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and played various sports over the years. Clyde attended Western Oaks Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Beth Miller of Springfield; two half-brothers, Michael and Patrick Douglass, both of CA; four sons, Kevin S. Miller of Ohio, Billy (wife, Kelly) Miller of Portland, TN, Alan (wife, Cassandra) Miller of Radcliff, KY, and Eric (wife, Tiffany) Miller of Everett, WA; two daughters, Heather Kolton of Vernon Hills, IL and Megan Miller of Chatham; seven grandchildren, Kevin Miller, Jr. of Ohio, Joshua and Andrew Miller of Portland, TN, Noah and Jeremy Miller of Radcliff, KY, Andrew Junkin of Radcliff, KY, and Joshua Kolton of Vernon Hills, IL. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Ingram officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
