

Dale R. Kuntz, 86, of Chatham, IL, formerly of Sterling, IL, passed away at 2:31 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center. Dale was born May 14, 1932 in Elgin, IL, the son of Fred Willard and Cora Marie Cranston Kuntz. He met Hattye Jeanette Weddle on a blind date in April of 1954 and they were later married on February 12, 1955 in Arlington, TX. Dale was a graduate of Elgin High School, later attending Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He worked as an airplane mechanic, gas station mechanic, and did sheet metal work for heating and air conditioning. Dale was also a service manager at Sears for 30 years. He was a member of Union Local #219 in Rockford and The HOG Club. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, woodworking, and was known as Mr. Fix-it. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two daughters, Jacqueline Ann Kuntz and Cheryl Lynn Kuntz. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Kuntz of Chatham, IL; son, Scott Alan (Christine) Kuntz of Chatham, IL; daughter, Linda Jo (Larry) Kotowski of Normal, IL; three grandchildren, Meghan Ashley (Aaron) Hillebrandt of Bloomington, IL, Bradley James (Stephanie) Kuntz of Chatham, IL, and Bailey Lawrence Kotowski (fiance, Lauren Parks) of Bloomington, IL; brother, Eugene David Kuntz of Antioch, IL; and five great-grandchildren, Jackson Hillebrandt, William Hillebrandt, Brody Kuntz, Hannah Parker and Haley Blair. Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center-Chatham prior to ceremonies. Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, 5063 Camp Butler Rd., Springfield, IL, with military honors. A Celebration of Life and luncheon will follow.
