Dale A. Lyons

Dale A. Lyons, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at his home. Dale was born on January 3, 1925 in Riverton, the son of Arthur R. and Stella Mae Bernard Lyons. He married D. Elaine Carver on April 11, 1945 in Springfield. Dale dedicated over 30 years of service to Fiat Allis before retiring in 1978. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa. Preceding Dale in death are three sisters; two brothers; and his parents. He is survived by his wife, D. Elaine Lyons of Springfield; sons, Larry Dale (wife, Venita), Terry Lyle (wife, Courtney), and V. Alex (wife, Dana) Lyons, all of Springfield; daughters, Estelle R. Dodd of Springfield, Cathy Ellen (companion, Larry Boroweic) Lyons of Riverton, and Jolene Rae Lyons of Sommerville, SC; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Gloria Stevens of Miamisburg, OH; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Carver, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
