

He was born in Jacksonville on September 18, 1949, the son of Harold David and Mary Virginia (Huff) Martin. Daniel married Nancy Tolliver.
Daniel graduated from New Berlin High School with the class of 1968 and later studied at Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, IL. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 as communications chief. Daniel then rose to the rank of First Sergeant in 1985 before retiring in 1992. Following the military, he worked with USPS. Daniel was a faithful member of Chatham Christian Church and traveled to spread and sing the gospel with his wife, Nancy. He also found peace in a good fishing trip.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Carol Hettick.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Richard D. Martin of Manchester; grandchildren, Jillian, Drake, and Vaughn Martin, all of Chandlerville; sister, Janet Smith of Springfield; 2 nephews; and one great nephew.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Chatham Christian Church, 9897 S. Main St., Chatham, until the time of the Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rick Wenneborg officiating.
Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee, IL.
