

Daniel P. Schuering, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, following a short illness. He was a principled, hardworking, and caring man that was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
Daniel was born on May 9, 1954, in Quincy, IL, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Gill) Schuering. He married Sarah Fox on October 19, 1984, in Springfield, IL.
Daniel graduated from Quincy Notre Dame High School and Sangamon State University. In 1991, Daniel obtained his Juris Doctor from St. Louis University School of Law. From 1991 through 2017, Daniel worked as an attorney in private practice, specializing in administrative law, local government law, and commercial transactions. From 2017 through his death, Daniel served as an Administrative Law Judge for the State of Illinois’ Bureau of Administrative Hearings. In this role, Daniel was an instrumental part of the State of Illinois’ efforts to centralize and streamline administrative hearings processes throughout the state.
Daniel was a life member of the National Eagle Scout Association and was a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Church in Springfield. When Daniel was not working, he was either tackling home renovation projects; watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals or Kansas City Chiefs; or spending time with his grandchildren.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Sarah Schuering of Springfield; daughter, Emma (Brenton Massey) Schuering of Kansas City, MO; sons, Anthony (Taylor) and Samuel (fiancé, Shea Deverick) Schuering, both of Springfield, IL; and grandchildren, George, Lilith, and Langston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dorothy, and his brother, Bill.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, IL, followed by the Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Jeff Grant officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
