

Darrell was born February 27, 1927, in Greenfield, IA, the son of John Raymond and Flossie Faye Easter Wilson. He married Margaret BeGole on July 20, 1950. She preceded him in death on August 9, 1968.
He later married Evelyn Leeds Corcoran on May 25, 1973, in Davenport, IA; she preceded him in death on December 30, 2020.
Darrell graduated from Winterset High School in 1944 and attended Simpson College. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in Commerce. Darrell proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was employed as an office manager with International Harvester and retired as secretary/treasurer for Prairie International. Darrell was a member of Hope Presbyterian for 49 years and served as an Elder. He was also a member of the American Legion. Darrell's proudest accomplishment was raising his children and setting a good example for them as a husband and father. He taught them to always do their best in everything they do. Darrell enjoyed playing bridge, attending church activities, and playing couples golf at Pasfield Golf Club.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Sean Corcoran and David Verstraete; sisters, Patricia (Jack) Benoit and Mary Frances (Swede) Almquist, and brother, Maurice W. (Jody) Wilson.
Darrell is survived by his children, Daryl Lyn (Gary) Verstraete of Independence, MO, Colleen (John, deceased) Bussen of St. Peters, MO, Jeffrey R. (Karin) Wilson of Durango, CO, Steven (Patricia) Corcoran of Springfield, Gregory L. (Sheri) Wilson of Petersburg, Gary Corcoran of St. Charles, MO, Anne Corcoran of Springfield, Brian Corcoran of Springfield, and Brian M. (Teresa) Wilson of Foristell, MO; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Private family ceremonies with burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense. Family and friends may stream the ceremony at here on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, after 3:00 p.m.
