

David “Dennis” Warnick, 94, and Sandra “Sandie” Warnick, 86, of Chatham, passed away on August 19, 2025. Sandie passed away peacefully at St. John’s Hospital and Dennis passed away peacefully 50 minutes later at Springfield Suites. They were surrounded by family.
Dennis was born on May 11, 1931, in Illiopolis, IL, the son of David S. and California (Redmon) Warnick. Sandie was born on August 15, 1939, in Farina, IL, the daughter of Orla W. and Bessie (Dudman) Robnett. They married on January 10, 1987, in Illiopolis.
Dennis attended Two Mile Grove School/Center Ridge School and graduated from Latham High School in 1949. He proudly served his country for 16 months in Korea, in the U.S. Army. Dennis worked as a trooper for the Illinois State Police for 29 years. He was very proud of his service as a trooper. After he retired, he went on to work as a Samaritan at St. John’s Hospital and also worked with Sears for 17 years. Dennis was a faithful Protestant, a member of the Juvae Jazz Society, loved cars, and Illini basketball.
Sandie attended Farina Grade School and graduated from LaGrove High School in 1957. She worked for the State of Illinois at the Governor’s Mansion as an events coordinator where she met Dennis. She also worked for Sears part-time for 15 years, and then for St. John’s Hospital, retiring after 30 years of service. She loved raising her four children. Sandie was a member and served as president of the Juvae Jazz Society. She enjoyed music, hanging out with friends and family, and she loved her dogs.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Isabelle Stinnett; and brothers, Robert and Theodore Warnick. He is survived by his children, Mark (Mary Ellen) Warnick of Buffalo Grove, Kevin (Stacey) Warnick of Springfield, and Daniel (Junpetch) Warnick of Thailand; sister, Roberta (Frank) Russell of Marble Hill, MO; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Sandie was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Winton and Paul Robnett. She is survived by her children, Tammy Davis, Brian (Jan) Bergmann, LeeAnn Bergmann, and Joe Bergmann, all of Springfield; cousins, Margaret, Becky, Jane, and Mary Jo; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, prior to services.
Memorial Ceremony and Gathering: The Ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating, followed by the Gathering from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
