

David was born July 7, 1948, in Olney, IL, the son of Virginia M. Herman Kuehl and her husband. He married Sue A. Davis on December 15, 1967, in Decatur.
David graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1966 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. He and Sue lovingly raised his 3 youngest sisters alongside their own 3 children. David was employed as a Roadway Express Driver for 30 years until his retirement. He then worked for the New Berlin School District, Memorial Medical Center, Dick Van Dyke, and for a local farmer as a grain hauler. David was a member of Loami Christian Church, American Legion Post 759 in Chatham, Masonic Lodge #700 in Pleasant Plains, and the VFW. He also served on New Berlin’s town board for 10 years. David enjoyed history, especially the Civil War era and had a passion for telling tall tales.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Tammy S. Cox.
David is survived by his loving wife, Sue A. Kuehl of New Berlin; his children, Joda (Chris) Garner and Mark Kuehl; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Patricia Maton Burns, Michael (Dee) Kuehl, Barbara Chandra, Sandra (Tim) Mate, and Susan Ferguson; as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Ceremony and Visitation: 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home-New Berlin, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin, IL with Pastor Anthony Bliss officiating. Family will receive friends following the ceremony until 6:00 p.m. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings.
Burial will be held at a later date in Mt. Zion, IL.
