

He was born in Rockford on March 26, 1954, the son of Frederick Charles and Amy J. Pfeiffer. David married Denese Gaio on August 5, 1978.
David attended Tri-City schools and completed his senior year at Rincon High School in Tucson, AZ. He proudly served in the United States Navy in 1972 for 18 months, stationed in Hawaii, where he was an avionics electronics technician. He studied at Lincoln Land Community College and earned his associate’s degree in computer programming. David went on to work in various roles, including State of Illinois Department of Employment Security, Electronic Decisions Inc. in 1989 for Urbana Illinois Lottery, Board of Elections, Department of Corrections, Concordia of Riverton as a CNA, and at the Illinois State Capitol Complex. He was proud to have competed in several triathlons, including Escape from Alcatraz. David cherished time spent with his family, and they went on many vacations together- they especially loved traveling to Disneyland, Colorado, and Arizona, where they made many treasured memories together. He was fun and loving with a great sense of humor that will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
David is survived by his children, Jessica (Randy Fiscus), Joshua, Ashley (fiancé, Jerry Priddy), and Nicholas; brothers, Michael, Paul, James, and Brian; grandchildren, Matthew and Zoe; great-grandchildren, Alexandria and RoseMary; two nephews; and several cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S., 6th St., Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, with Celebrant Judy Woerner.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.
