Dennis James Sheley

He was born on October 8, 1955, in Springfield, IL, the son of James H. and Patricia A. (Merriman) Sheley. Dennis married Patricia J. Micciche on November 8, 1990, in Las Vegas, NV.

Dennis owned and operated IMCO Utility Supply, a pipe, valve, and fitting distribution company purchased in 1985 by the Sheley family. The business, then known as Illinois Meter, Inc., that started in a small warehouse in Springfield, IL., has grown to five locations throughout Illinois and Missouri. He was a founding member of The Distribution Group and served on the board for over 20 years.

Dennis was an avid fisherman, who particularly enjoyed trout fishing at Montauk State Park. He liked hunting, raising cattle, and driving his tractors. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He could often be found in his den with a good book or watching NASCAR.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters, Jennifer (James) Lorton and Virginia (David) Fugate; son, Daniel (Trisha) Sheley; grandchildren, Nichole Sheley (who was raised by Dennis and Pat), Abigail Sheley (Will Cummings), Connor Sheley, and Braden Bristow; one great-grandchild; and brother, Douglas Sheley (Rich Wiseman).

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home - Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, followed by the Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain James Feagans officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bluffs, IL.
