Fred Donald Hardy, 80, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born February 13, 1937 in Perry, Georgia, to W.R. and Dencie Lee Horne Hardy, Sr. Fred was preceded in death by son, Mark, his parents, brothers, W.R. Hardy, Jr and Douglas Hardy, and sister, Margaret Carmichael. He married Gayle R. Walden September 4, 1960. Fred devoted his life to the Lord, through ministries and mission work in several states. He enjoyed music by singing and playing the piano. He and his wife are members of Calvary Church. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Gayle; son, David Hardy of Springfield; daughter, Melodee (John) Chamberlain of Herrick; grandchildren, Kara of Pleasant Plains, Chassidy, Chaz and Hannah of Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Zimmerli of Springfield and Marie Walden of Girard; brothers, Calvin, Kenny, Ralph, Eddie; sister, Mae Smith; several nieces, nephews and cousins. His family will greet friends, from 9am, until the time of the funeral service at 11am, Thursday, April 13, at Calvary Church, 1730 West Jefferson Street, Springfield, IL, 62702. Pastor Mark Johnson will officiate. Burial at Union Chapel Cemetery near Girard. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Church Missions Fund.
