Donald J. Burmeister

Donald J. Burmeister, 73, of Springfield, died at 3:37 a.m. Sunday, March 9, 2003 at his residence. Donald was born December 21, 1929 in Springfield, the son of William and Alma Costello Burmeister. He married Elizabeth Joyce Blakeman September 6, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springfield. Donald worked in retail business in Springfield and Peoria most of his life. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Springfield; four sons: David (wife, Bonnie) Burmeister of Springfield, Michael (wife, Heidi) Burmeister of Peoria, Donald (wife, Lynn) Burmeister of Washington, IL, Mark Burmeister of Peoria; five daughters: Patricia (husband, Stephen) Hohstadt of Metamora, IL, Kathy (husband, Mike) Rodier of Springfield, Mary (husband, Mike) Smith of Peoria, Peggy (husband, Rick) Nelson of Peoria, Theresa (husband, Dan) McCabe of Peoria; twenty-one grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 4-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2003. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
