

Donald W. Lowe, 69, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Crawfordsville, IN, the son of Robert F. and Betty E. Zahn Lowe. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, William Callahan and an infant son. Donald was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from the Illinois Army National Guard where he served and worked as a federal employee for thirty-three years. He was a past president of Illinois National Guard Association and held membership in National Guard Association of U. S., Military Officers Assoc of America and past membership with the Springfield Jaycees. Donnie is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon L. Dayton; his children, Brook (companion, Michael Walton) Lowe Harmony, Shannon Nutaut (husband, Jeremy) Standridge and Dustin Lowe, all of Springfield; three grandchildren; Ciara, Parker, and J.J.; three brothers, Ronald Lowe of Elizabeth City, NC, William Callahan of Norfolk, VA and James (wife, Candie) Callahan of Chesapeake, VA; nieces, Amber Curles and Dawn Callahan; and nephews, Rustin Callahan and Jason Dayton. Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Chaplain (Major) Steve Foster officiating. Military honors will be provided.
