

He was born January 10, 1929 in New Berlin, IL, the son of the late Henry L. and Edna (Vandrie) Meyer. He married Rosemary Reed-Honn on September 12, 1959 in Springfield and she survives.
Mr. Meyer worked as a painter with the Painter’s Union Local #90 in Springfield. Previously he had worked at Allis-Chalmers in Springfield. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He was a lifetime member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans), a member of the American Legion in Springfield, and the VFW in Springfield and Petersburg.
Besides his wife Rosemary “Sunny”, he is survived by 4 sons, William K. Honn of Petersburg, Michael James Honn of Laie, Hawaii, Donald (wife Tori) Meyer of Havelock, NC, and Anthony C. (wife Deborah) Meyer of Lincoln, IL, 8 grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda, Brandon, Mila, Cole, Chelsey, Mackenzie, and Noelle, 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 5 brothers, Henry “Hank” Meyer of Springfield, John (wife Alice) Meyer of Redmond, OR, Gene (wife Virginia) Meyer of Greenview, IL, Howard (wife Joyce) Meyer of Springfield, and Denton “Denny” (wife Donna) Meyer of Petersburg, and 2 sisters, Shirley Hubbard of Petersburg, and Mary (husband Ed) Taylor of San Francisco, CA.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Mildred Huddleston, Marcella Meyer, and Luella Hand, and a brother, Hubert “Hub” Meyer.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, Il 62703. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 11 am at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Rev. Vaughn Beeman will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Animal Protective League in Springfield.
