Donald E. Prince

Donald E. Prince, 69, of New Berlin, passed away at 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. Don was born on September 18, 1948 in Springfield, the son of Fred and Rose Lewis Prince. He married Linda Ciesler on April 25, 1970 at Bethany Lutheran Church. Don was a graduate of New Berlin High School. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam receiving a Bronze Star, the Air Medal, and two Purple Hearts. Don was a self-employed contractor before joining the United States Postal Service retiring as Postmaster. Don was an avid Cardinals fan and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gary and Jim. He is survived by his wife, Linda Prince of New Berlin; his sons, Eric (companion, Monica Davis) Prince of Rochester and A.J. (wife, Heather) Prince of Belleville; five grandchildren, Morgan, Makayla, Raegan, Ryan, and Cal; and one brother, Mike (wife, Joyce) Prince of Springfield. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Private family ceremonies will be held. Private inurnment will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery Columbarium with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
