Donald L. Rieck

Donald L. Rieck, 82, of Geneva, formerly of Springfield, died at 12:23 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva. Donald was born June 13, 1935 in Springfield, the son of Fred and Edna Walker Rieck. He married Elizabeth Jacobs on October 17, 1964 at Immanuel Lutheran Church; she preceded him in death on November 24, 2002. Donald earned his bachelors degree from the University of Illinois and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a partner and employed as a Certified Public Accountant with McGladrey and Pullen until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Illinois CPA Society, Lincolnfest executive committee, Chamber of Commerce, where he served as a past chairman in 1998, the Illini Country Club, University of Illinois Alumni Association, and Grace Lutheran Church. Donald enjoyed playing golf. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judith Kothe; and brother, Harold A. Rieck. He is survived by his sons, Don (wife, Lisa) Rieck of Geneva and Brian (wife, Donna) Rieck of Lyons, CO; four grandchildren, Samantha, Lillian, Jacob, and Abigail; siblings, Harvey L. Rieck of Springfield and Carol M. Sellinger of Vero Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Historic Grace Lutheran Church, 714 E. Capitol Ave., Springfield with Rev. Thomas B. Christell, Jr. officiating.
