She was born in Murrayville, IL on May 13, 1936, the daughter of Oscar R. and Ethel L. (Duckwiler) Motley. Donna married John “Jack” C. Roetker in Springfield in December of 1979, and he preceded her in death.
Donna graduated from Northwestern High School with the class of 1954. She went on to work as a claims examiner for Franklin Life Insurance for 36 years. Donna was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church and The Order of the Eastern Star.
Donna always enjoyed being busy at Franklin Life, entertaining family and friends at home and being social with friends competing in bowling leagues, playing golf, or taking ceramics classes. After retirement, Donna loved living as a “snow-bird” in South Padre, TX during the winter months for several years. This time in Texas also gave her numerous opportunities to visit her family in Texas and see her grandsons grow and mature. Donna said moving to Concordia was a blessing with her beautiful apartment overlooking the chapel and her ability to continue to be busy volunteering and be surrounded by precious friends and staff who loved and cared for her.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Lynne (Ted) Smith of Plano, TX; grandchildren, Gregory (Erin) Smith of Cary, NC, Michael (Alina) Smith of Jacksonville, FL and Carson Smith of Austin, TX; siblings, LaVerne Brown of Sherman, IL, Raymond (Shirley) Motley of Godfrey, IL and Gary (Linda) Motley of Hettick, IL; great-grandson, Grant Smith of Cary, NC; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her very special friend and companion, Ralph Hanebutt.
