Donna was born May 25, 1950, in Pana, IL, the daughter of William and Ellen Orr (Cook) Swiney.
Donna graduated from Taylorville High School in 1968. She dedicated more than 30 years of service as a secretary at Tom Lange, where she was known for her commitment and reliability. Donna found great joy in cake decorating and cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She had a special love for her cats and dogs, who were an important part of her life. Loving, fun, and deeply caring, Donna was a loyal friend and a bright light to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ellen Orr; brother, Jerald Swiney; brother-in-law, Robert Bozarth; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Swiney; and nephews, Brian Bozarth and Marc Swiney.
Donna is survived by her long time partner, Robert “Bob” Brune; nephews, Todd (Christine) Norris and Travis (Becky) Norris both of Taylorville, IL and Trent (Jennifer) Norris of Palmer, IL; nieces, Karen (Mike) Redenbaugh of Springfield, IL and Janette Smith of Glenarm, IL; stepdaughters, Susan Jennifer (Jeff) Eickhoff of St. Louis, MO and Olivia May (Adam) Mefford of Jacksonville, IL; stepson, Robert Maxwell “Max” (Darcy) Brune; step grandchildren, Megan and Hannah Eickhoff of St. Louis, MO, Myah and Brandon Mefford of Jacksonville, IL, and Tulsa Brune; sisters, Ann Bozarth of Springfield, IL and Mary Tena (Robert) Norris of Taylorville, IL; several great nieces and nephews; one great great niece; and one great great nephew.
Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield, IL 62703 until the time of the Ceremony at 12:00 pm with Celebrant Parian Hull, officiating. Eulogy provided by stepdaughter, Susan Eickhoff.
Burial will follow at Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville, IL.
