Donna D. Yates

She was born on November 26, 1937 in Springfield, the daughter of the late Homer T. and Mildred (Reynolds) Dodd. She married Richard L. Yates in 1959 in Springfield and he preceded her in death on December 18, 2014.

Donna was a self-employed hairdresser from 1970 until she retired in 2018. She was very interested in genealogy and spent a great deal of time researching our families back to the 1500’s. She was also able to locate family members for many women requesting her help. She loved being outside gardening and enjoying nature.

She is survived by her 2 children, Robert E. (wife Marianne) Yates of Surprise, AZ and Sheryl L. (husband Harry) Delind of Riverton, IL; 1 step-daughter Judith (husband James) Sprague of Lakewood, WA; 1 granddaughter Jessica R. (husband Evan) Ferguson of Canton, GA; 3 great-grandchildren, Maxwell Ethan, Evelyn Rose, and Henry Joseph Ferguson; 3 sisters, Sharon Van Dyke of Springfield, Marsha Dodd of Metamora, IL, and Marlene Carraro of Springfield; 1 brother Duane Dodd of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Warren “Buddy” and Arlo Dodd.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. Per her wishes, a private family service will be held.
