

Doris J. Greer, 81, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at St. John's Hospice. Doris was born November 12, 1927 in Decatur, the daughter of Roy and Grayce Buckingham Stafford. She married Joseph Minikin in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1959. She later married Joseph Greer and he preceded her in death in 2007. Doris graduated from high school in 1945 and went on to work for a variety of companies including Sangamo Electric where she was employed as a secretary. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, playing cards, and playing the piano. Also preceding Doris in death are her grandson, Brian Joseph Woltz; brothers, Jack and George Stafford; and her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Woltz and Dawn Greer, both of Springfield; her granddaughter, Melanie Pozsgai of Springfield; her brother Roger (wife, Carol) Stafford of Decatur; a few nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 11:30 until the time of the funeral ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Gary Winkleman officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Rd., Springfield, IL 62702.
