

E. Irene Rogers-Shevokas, 73, of Springfield, died at 3:20 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2004 at St. John’s Hospice. Irene was born March 10, 1931 in Springfield the daughter of Glen and Elsie Dyer Packingham. She married John Rogers in 1974; he preceded her in death. She later married James Shevokas February 19, 2000 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springfield. Irene worked in food service for St. John’s Hospital for 10 years retiring in 1990. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Sharon Rogers and two brothers: Glen and Robert Packingham. She is survived by her husband: James of Springfield; four daughters: Jacqueline (fiancé Bruce Bryan) Rogers Morris, Bobi Rogers, Mary (husband, Mark) Anderson and Cathy (husband, James) Bredemeyer all of Springfield; five grandchildren; one brother: Paul (wife, Nedra) Packingham of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St. Springfield with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospital, Hospice Program, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62702.
