Earlona Mae Looby

She was born on April 24, 1933, in Springfield, the daughter of J. Earle and Leona (Brown) Williams. Earlona married Vincent L. “Vince” Looby on June 23, 1956, in Springfield. He preceded her in death, on August 5, 2021.

Earlona graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1951 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Sangamon State/UIS in 1984. She went on to work for the IL Youth Service Bureau as a social worker. Earlona was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, and Altrusa Club. She volunteered for numerous community services, and the Senior Center of Central IL was very important to her.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Joan Bishop, Cathe Lewis

Earlona is survived by her children, Jim (Melinda) Looby of St. Louis, MO, William Looby of Springfield, David Looby of Troy, IL, Ann Young of Springfield, Lynn Marguerite of Chicago, Amy Looby of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister Annette Nelson of Springfield.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, prior to services.

Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, followed by the Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Richard Chiola officiating. Those who wish to view the livestream of the service may do so by visiting the Butler Funeral Homes and Cremation Tribute Center Facebook page. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
