

Edith Helen Bakalar, 82, of Jacksonville, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at Prairie Village Health Care Center in Jacksonville. Edith was born October 21, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA the daughter of Rocco and Palma DeSipio Piccinino. She married John Bakalar; he preceded her in death in 1959. Mrs. Bakalar was employed by the school board and worked in the cafeteria for 20 years. She was a member of St. Anselm Senior Center in Philadelphia, PA. She was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Albert, Guido, Pasquale and Raymond Piccinino. She is survived by one son: A. John Busciacco of Springfield; two sisters: Rose (husband, Albert) Crispi of Philadelphia, PA, Grace Forlano of New Jersey, two brothers: Rocco Piccinino of Philadelphia, PA, Rudolph (wife, Dora) Piccinino of Philadelphia, PA and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2004 with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Village Health Care Center, Attn. Activities Department, 1024 W. Walnut St., Jacksonville, IL 62650, Visiting Nurses Association of Central Illinois, Attn. Hospice Program, 720 N.
