

Edmond "Ed" Francis Burke, 52, of Springfield, passed away at 3:39 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Brother James Court. Ed was born on April 3, 1958 in Evergreen Park, IL, the son of David E. and Ruth Jane Ducett Burke, Sr. Ed was in the first Special Olympics, when he was 7 years old and won many gold medals throughout the years of his participation. He was a long term resident of Brother James Court for 16 years and also at Webber House for 18 years. Ed worked for Goodwill for 28 years. He loved watching movies and had a large collection of movies. He also loved music and sang in the Brother James Court choir for many years. He is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, Ruth of Lansing, IL; his siblings, Patricia (husband, Jim) Fleck of Bridgeton, ME, Carol (husband, Bruce) Klein of Hanover Park, Mary (husband, Mike) Fary of Durango, Mexico, Michael Burke (Sharon Chafin) of Highland, IN, Timothy (wife, Catalina) Burke of Westchester, IL, Terrance Burke of Lansing, IL, David Edward Burke, Jr. of North Little Rock, AR and Jane Burke of Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Brother James Court, 2500 St. James Rd., Springfield. Burial will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 1:30p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Webber House, 2520 St. James Rd., Springfield, IL 62707.
