

Edward Lee Williams, Jr., age 74, of Springfield, IL, passed away on March 2, 2026, at the home of his son in Springfield. Edward was born on June 9, 1951, in Springfield. He was the son of Ed Williams, Sr. and Barbara Williams (Bumpus). He married Carol Allers on May 4, 1974, at St. Cabrini Church in Springfield.
Edward went to grade school at St. Pats, Saints Peter and Paul, and St. Cabrini. He went to high school at St. James Trade School and graduated in 1969. He worked at Allis Chalmers (Fiat-Allis) and Precision Products where he retired. Edward liked watching stock car racing on the local dirt tracks. He also liked woodworking and working on cars. He was the father of two children, Christy and Brian.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; daughter, Christy; and parents, Ed and Barb. He is survived by his son, Brian (wife Erin); grandson, Logan Pierce; two granddaughters, Eleanor and Bernadette Williams; five brothers and sisters, Mike Williams (Jolene), Mary Smith (David), Rita Williams, Angie Hood-Williams, and Patrick Williams; brother-in-law, Jim Allers (Nan); and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Visitation and Prayer Service: A prayer service will start at 4:30 p.m. with Fr. George Nellikunnel officiating. The family will receive friends following the prayer service until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, with Fr. George Nellikunnel officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
