

Elaine Ann Mack, 68, of Springfield, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002 at her residence. Elaine was born June 5, 1934 the daughter of Anton and Lillian Volenec Zelinger in Omaha, NE. She married Dr. David Mack June 10, 1961 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Omaha, NE. Elaine was a St. Joseph’s School of Nursing graduate and she earned her degree from Creighton University in Nursing. She taught Psychiatric Nursing at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Omaha, NE where she was also the head of the Psychiatric Department. She owned and operated the Marian Center in Springfield for thirteen years. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and involved with the Serra Club. She was also a member of Opus Dei, Springfield Art Association, Springfield Right to Life and the Medical Wives Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband: Dr. David Mack of Springfield; two daughters: Christine Mack of Springfield, Michelle (husband, Tony) Nicioli of Arlington Heights; four sons: Jeffrey Mack of Waitsfield, VT, Gregory Mack of Denver, CO, Brian (wife, Catherine) Mack of Dallas, TX, Kevin (wife, Kathy) Mack of Lincoln, NE; stepmother: Helen Zelinger; five grandchildren: Michael Anthony Nicioli, Brendan Mack, Aaron Mack, Victoria Mack and Annie Mack; one sister: Judy (husband, Tim) McGuire of Terre Haute, IN; one brother: Tony Zelinger of Anchorage, AK and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Christ the King Catholic Church from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2002. Visitation will begin with a Prayers and Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2002 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Reverend David Lantz celebrant.
