

Eleanor was born July 18, 1923 in Alexander, the daughter of George William and Mary Louise Horn Luken. She married Victor Torbeck on September 25, 1960 in Springfield; he preceded her in death on July 5, 2004.
Eleanor was a homemaker and babysitter for most of her life, which she enjoyed very much. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a member of the Mary and Martha Guild of the Church. Eleanor was also a member of the Auxiliary to American Legion Post 743 in New Berlin and the Sangamon County Farm Bureau.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her son, Loren W. Torbeck of Alexander; one daughter, Donna (husband, Mark) Jackson of Jacksonville; one step-daughter, Vickie (husband, Marshall) Austin of New Berlin; grandchildren; Jennifer, Amanda, Lori, and Anneliese Jackson, Alexandria and Brooklyn Torbeck, Lindsay (Patrick) McNeely-Schmees, Megan McNeely, Christopher (Anne) Terio, Alan (Georgette) Austin, and Chris (Julie) Austin.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home, 714 East Gibson St., New Berlin.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 300 E. Gibson St., New Berlin with Pastor David Benning officiating. Burial will follow at Luken Cemetery.
