Elsie Marie Bell

Elsie Marie Bell, 91, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010 at St. John's Hospice. Elsie was born February 7, 1919 in Chestnut, IL, the daughter of Winford and Marie Combs Allsopp. She married Robert W. Bell on April 11, 1937 in Chestnut. He preceded her in death in September 1994. Elsie graduated from Mt. Pulaski High School and worked primarily as a homemaker. She was a member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church, a member of the Senior Citizens Group OK Club, Homebuilder's Sunday School class, and was a 4-H leader for 25 years. She loved sewing and reading. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Winford Allsopp and sister, Irma Harness. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Lester of Springfield and Barbara (husband, Tom) Plohr of Libertyville, IL; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Dorsey of Macon, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 9:00 10:45 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2010 at Cherry Hills Baptist Church, 2125 Woodside Rd., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Patzia, officiating. Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemetery.
