Eric "Ric" Huckaby, Sr.

He was born in Springfield on April 26, 1946, the son of Joseph and Mary Jane (Dixon) Huckaby. Ric married Susan Fox in 1965 and had two children, Eric and Robin. He later married Marilyn Easton in 1980. They both preceded him in death.

Ric graduated from Feitshans High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a recruiter for the IL National Guard before his retirement in 1996. Ric was the Senior Vice Commander of the Disabled American Veterans of Illinois, and he lobbied Congress in Washington DC for veteran’s rights and benefits. In his free time, Ric cherished spending time with his daughter, granddaughter, and close friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Eric Huckaby, Jr.; and brother, Jay Manning.

Ric is survived by his daughter, Robin; and granddaughter, Emily Earl.

Graveside Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Army Department of Defense.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Locals in Pawnee, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Ric may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
