Eugene Sims, 48, of Springfield, passed away at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. Eugene was born March 13, 1962 in Fort Knox, Kentucky, the son of Francis and Joanna Janseen McNamara. He married Maria Aida Loay on July 25, 1991 in the Philippines. Eugene was a graduate of Lanphier High School and owned and operated Gene's Lawn Care. He loved being outside. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joanna Sims; grandmother, Ava Lynn Janseen; and grandfather, James Francis McNamara. He is survived by his wife, Aida Sims of Springfield; son, Eugene Edward Sims, Jr. of Springfield; daughters, Samantha and Gina Sims, both of Springfield; father, Francis (Gloria) McNamara; sisters, Vicky Sims, Terri Loveless and Donna Miller; one aunt; two nieces; three nephews; and two cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
