

Evelyn L. Parker was born in Springfield Illinois the daughter of Charles and Margaret K. Ray and passed away Tuesday May 8, 2012 at her residence in Springfield. She married Shade M. Parker, June 16, 1946 at Grace Lutheran Church in Springfield. Preceding her in death were her husband Shade M. , infant twin daughters, Mother Margaret Cofer and Step-Father Joseph H. Cofer.
Evelyn was a resident of Springfield most of her life. She graduated from Madison East High School, Madison, Wisconsin, she attended University of Wisconsin, and was a graduate of Brown's Business School in Springfield, Illinois. She was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Company (Ameritech) for 20 years in the Division Plant Department; as a Secretary and later at Security Federal Savings and Loan Association (Security Bank).
Evelyn was a member of Grace Lutheran church for over 60 years, a Past Royal Matron of the Springfield court#8 Order of Amaranth, member of Lalla Rookh Chapter #218 Order of the Eastern Star, past member of Carillon Chapter A.B.W.A. and Alpha Iota Sorority. She also belonged to several social clubs.
She is survived by very special friends, numerous nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday May 11, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church, 7th and Capitol Streets in Springfield with Rev. Thomas B. Christell Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 9:30 am Friday.
Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, St. Judes Hospital, Springfield Court #8 Order of Amaranth, or Lalla Rookh Chapter #218 Order of Eastern Star.
