
Frances Slack Thomas, 93, of Springfield, passed away at 2:43 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2002 at Villa Health Care East in Sherman. Frances was born April 13, 1908 the daughter of Joseph and Mary Patkis Lukitis in Springfield. She married Terry Slack in June 1927; he preceded her in death December 13, 1958. She later married E.E. Thomas; he preceded her in death July 1979. Frances lived her entire life in Springfield. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was co-owner of Slack Grocery Store for many years and she had also been employed as a clerk and manager for Pease's Candy Company for 15 years. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son: Jerome Burton Slack; one brother: John Lukitis and one sister: Nellie Lukitis Wolf. She is survived by two sons: Robert L. (wife, Joan) Slack of Rockford, IL, James G. (wife, Barbara) Slack of Big Sandy, TX; one daughter-in-law: Shirley Slack; two stepchildren: Richard (Rosemary) Thomas of Springfield; Dolores (husband, Roy) Gallagher of Lake View, AR; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 11:30 – 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2002. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2002 at Calvary Cemetery with Very Reverend Patrick Wright V.F. officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to St. Agnes Church 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield, IL 62702 or Charity of Donor's Choice.
