Francis W. "Hank" Johnson, 80, of Springfield, died at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at his home. He was born in Quincy, the son of Benjamin and Myrtle Johnson. He married Carla F. DeVerger in 1958, and she survives. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Edith Spohr; and three brothers, Ray, James and Eldon Johnson. Hank was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He later joined the Air National Guard and worked as a full time technician at the 183rd Fighter Wing, retiring as a Lt. Col. with more than 31 years total military service. He is also survived by two sons, Gregory and Edward Johnson, both of Springfield; one granddaughter, Kala Johnson of Springfield; three grandsons, Kyle Johnson of Springfield, Sean and Zachary Johnson, both of Decatur; one sister, Mrs. Joanne Maas of Camp Point; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
