Frank was my godfather.  He and my dad worked closely at IBM for many years.  I distinctly remember going to the old IBM offices on 6th St and later Jefferson St and seeing the colorful, 30’ sales contest leader boards with the two of them at the top more often than not.  It was interestingly cool even at a young age.  
I had the opportunity to travel with my parents to a few of the Golden Circle award trips for reaching 125% of quota.  The overwhelming memory from those was laughter.  Frank and Dad laughed a great deal back then.  They would do infamous skits poking fun at their good-spirited sales manager, Paul Snodgrass’s malapropisms.  Scenarios like having a sore throat and asking for “a throat lobster” or someone not delivering a clear message, so they would ask them to “be more pacific.”  You can bet Frank would drop into his Foghorn Leghorn or W.C. Fields schticks.  You get a little latitude when you exceed your quota every year.  
Another special memory of Frank was the silver dollar banners he would hang on our front door on my childhood birthdays.  Opening each individually wrapped shiny dollar coin was magical.  Truth be told, I still have them today.  
Frank and Dad had very similar Ford 64-era convertible Mustangs.  Frank’s Mustang had the added feature of Bouncer.  The family dog who would bounce out of the car somewhere in town, take off, and always show back up at home.  There couldn’t have been a more appropriate name for that dog.  He was probably racing home to have the delicious Dody’s Cinnamon Rolls, which we still enjoy today.  

Dody, you, Joe, Dan, John, and Steve are in my prayers.  I hope you can reflect on the great times and full life that Frank shared.  I can still hear, “I say, I say, Son… As you drive along the highway of life, keep your eye upon the donut and not upon the hole.”

Frank was my mentor at IBM and taught me so much about selling and being nice to people and having good manners.  We used to drive to St Louis together and he would tell his funny stories the whole way there.  He was also my sponsor when I became Catholic.   Every time he saw me- “Hey Marko!”.   With great admiration, respect and sadness I say rest in peace and God Bless you and your family- especially Dody.

Frank was a fine person, brother and brother in law with memorable, fractured Croatian sayings. Trees planted in his name are a lasting memorial.

To Frank Katalinich family...I was most sorry to hear the news today. It's been so many years, but nevertheless many good memories. I just wanted to express my sincere condolences to Dody and the family to wish you all the best in getting through this most saddening time. My thoughts and memories are with you.

I'm so terribly sorry that we lost one of our super swim team parents.  What a guy!  Always smiling, laughing and offering encouragement.  We sure had some fun times at Colony West, Griffin and Christ the King.  Hugs to you all.  April
