

Genevieve McDonald, 92, of Springfield, died at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, March 16, 2003 at her residence. Genevieve was born January 3, 1911 in Springfield, the daughter of Aidan and Elizabeth Fay McCann. Mrs. McDonald attended Springfield High School and graduated from Foley Business Academy. She traveled and performed for 13 years in show business as a professional dancer and singer. She later worked as a Claims Representative for the Social Security Administration and retired in 1975 after 31 years of employment. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother. She is survived by one daughter: Glenda (husband, Richard) White of St. Louis; one sister: Geraldine Connors of Springfield; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; several nieces; one nephew; several great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family of Genevieve McDonald is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
