Bob was born on February 16, 1920, in Springfield, IL, the son of George L. and Myrtle (Rowland) Dyson. He married Alice I. Wagy on March 29, 1942, in Springfield. She preceded Bob in death, on November 11, 1990. He later married Ruth Hannel-Schlindwien. She preceded Bob in death, on March 1, 2015.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp, during WWII. Bob went on to work as a remodeling foreman with Vredenburgh Lumber Company, and he worked for his longtime friend, R.E. von Behren. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 16 for more than 75 years.
Bob was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willard and Lemuel Dyson; and son-in-law, Delbert Lancaster.
He is survived by his children, Robert G. (Carol) Dyson of Springfield, Judy Lancaster of Taylorville, and Kirk (Mary) Dyson of Springfield; stepchildren, Jeff (Diane) Schlindwien of Springfield and Lisa (David) Sherell of Florida; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 S. Grand Ave. W., Springfield, followed by the Funeral at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kent Lolling officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
