

George K. Taylor, 81, of Springfield, died at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, surrounded by his family and friends, at The Christian Village in Lincoln. George was born December 6, 1930 in Detroit, MI, the son of Andrew and Ruth Josalin Zumpe Taylor. He married Lorraine Walls on June 25, 1949 in Springfield. George attended New Berlin High School and worked as a welder for Fiat Allis until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of Sugar Creek United Methodist Church. He built two homes with the help of his wife and enjoyed flower gardening, watching birds, nature, and travelling. He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Kenneth Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Taylor of Lincoln, two daughters, Vickie (husband, Donald) Thompson of Springfield and Judy (husband, Richard) Kick of Auburn; one granddaughter, Pam (husband, Greg) Gutzman of Waverly; two great-grandsons, Jacob and Benjamin Gutzman of Waverly; brother, Earl E. Taylor of Kansas City, MO; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Roselawn Memorial Park with Chaplain Ryan Edgecombe officiating.
