Survivors include his wife, Rosemary (Walgreen) Carlson of Springfield; two daughters, Rene (Ralph Peters) Carlson of NY and Shawn (Donald) Orton of UT; one son, Todd (Susan) Carlson of MI; seven grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.
He served as an Ag research scientist for 32 years with the United States Department of Agriculture and retired from WIU as chair of the Ag Department in 1995.
Celebration of Life: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Concordia Village. His ashes will be interred at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
