Gregory Paul Lanham

Greg was born in Springfield, March 6, 1967 the son of Paul W. and Barbara (Pfister) Lanham. He was a graduate of Griffin (now Sacred Heart-Griffin) High School. His father, Paul preceded him in death.

Greg enlisted in the United States Army Oct. 10, 1989 and earned an honorable discharge Oct. 28, 1991. During his service commitment, Greg achieved and earned the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Sharpshooter Qualification Badge M-16 Rifle and Expert Qualification Badge Hand Grenade.

Greg had a passion for St. Louis Cardinal Baseball and St. Louis Blues Hockey. To say he was an avid fan would be an understatement. He enjoyed wood working with his dad, as they shared several of their creations with family and friends. Greg loved the outdoors and even as a teenager and young adult, he would walk, bicycle or hike just about anywhere and everywhere. He enjoyed traveling with family, especially his favorite destinations of the Badlands and Mount Rushmore.

Greg was a devoted father to his daughter Danielle and had an unending love for his family. He was so appreciative of everything they did to help him through his health concerns and especially his sister Karen, opening her home to care for him.

Surviving are his dear family: his daughter Danielle, his son, Jacob, his loving mother, Barbara, his three sisters; Karen Williams, Sheri (husband Pierre) Laich and Beverly Lanham, his brother, Steven (wife Betty) Lanham, his many nieces and nephews, his two canine best friends, Nova and Buttercup, and feline friend, Trixie.

Cremation Rites will be accorded by the Bisch and Son Crematory. A private family graveside service with full military honors at Camp Butler National Cemetery will be held.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may direct memorial contributions in his honor to the Animal Protective League or the Sangamon County Animal Control.
