

Gregory Timmers, 63, of Springfield, died at 4:55 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at his home. Greg was born February 11, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Frank and Carol Hiller Timmers. He married Cathryn Danicich on November 30, 1974 in Minneapolis, MN. Greg was a certified public accountant and worked for 30 years as a health care veteran, serving as the Chief Executive Officer for Prairie Cardiovascular in Springfield, IL for 20 of those years. He previously was employed for 12 years with Deloitte & Touche Accounting/Consulting firm, where he was a partner. Greg was an administrative member of the Council on Clinical Practice for the American College of Cardiology. He was also a member of the MedAxiom advisory board and served on the board of the Cardiology Advocacy Alliance. He was past president of the Medical Group Management Association cardiovascular assembly. Greg was a 30 year member of Mensa. Since 2000, he has been a Mensa Education and Research Foundation trustee, serving as President from 2002 to 2011. He also sat on the American Mensa board, serving as Director of Science and Education since 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Cathryn Timmers of Glenview; daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Doug McBride) Timmers of West Chicago; and one aunt, Alice Timmers of Prior Lake, MN. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering and Memorial Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
