

Harold Lee "Harry" White, 71, of Springfield, died at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Heritage Health. Harry was born January 4, 1946 in Litchfield, the son of Harold C. and Selma F. Evans White. He married Caren Sue Howell on October 24, 1970 in Springfield; she preceded him in death on January 23, 2008. Harry graduated from Litchfield High School and was employed by the State of Illinois as a print shop supervisor for the IL Department of Transportation until his retirement after 34 years of service. He also worked for a short period of time at a radio station in Litchfield. Harry was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4631. He was an avid bowler and was in many leagues, and enjoyed fishing, making model cars, and smoking a pipe. He was a storyteller, coached his childrens ball teams, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Blake (wife, Amanda) White of Springfield; daughter, Chrystal Call of Springfield; and grandchildren, PFC Quentin (wife, Jessica) Call of Ft. Riley, KS and Evan Schaeffer of Springfield. The family would like to thank Charles Call, the staff at Heritage Health, Memorial Hospice Care, and FFDA for their support and compassion during this time. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
